Saving Medipaks

If Lara is low on health and do not want to use a Medipak, wait until you get to a checkpoint. Then, save the game and load it. This will take you back to where you just were with a full health bar. This is useful as it saves Medipaks which you need later in the game. Alternately, if Lara is low on health and you do get to a checkpoint, kill Lara (for example, jump off a high ledge). This will also take you back to the previous checkpoint with a full health bar.

Turing gold

In Mida’s Palace, step onto Mida’s hand (which you use to turn the silver blocks into gold), and stay there for a short period of time to be turn into solid gold.

Easy Croft Manor maze

You must go through a maze at Croft Manor to collect Artifacts. The easiest way to go through the maze is to stick to the walls. By doing this, the camera will move to a view on top of Lara, and you can actually see what is on the other side of walls.

Better jumps

When jumping up stairs, pull out your gun(s), but do not shoot. Hop forward, and you will glide smoothly up the stairs.

Attacking raptors safely in Lost Valley

When you slide down the slope and the raptors charge at you, ready to attack, there is a rock where they cannot get you. As soon as you enter the valley, jump on the rock to your left. You will be able to shoot them, and they will not be able to attack you.

Infinite money or items

Go to any location that you can exit and re-enter easily with money or reusable items (health packs, bars, etc.) that can be picked up. Keep leaving and entering the screen. The money or item will still be there each time.

Infinite money in Persian Ghetto

Go into the pawn shop after you talk to the women. After you talk to the man in the pawn shop, leave. Then, go straight until you get to a sewer drain cover and an object or item toward your left. Pick it up. It will be money. Go back to the pawn shop. Then, walk back out of the pawn shop. Return to the sewer top where you found the money. There will be money there once again. Continue doing this for unlimited money.

Fire more rapidly with shotgun or handguns

Instead of holding [Action] to fire, quickly tap it repeatedly. Lara will shoot the weapon much faster, making it easier to eliminate targets.

Get gas masks early

Stand directly in front of the cabinet and press [Crouch]. When the hand appears, press [Action]. If done correctly, Lara should reach through the door while crouched and grab a gas mask. This may also work in other places.

Serpent Rouge night club

Turn on the disco lights that move up and down. Then, go up to the second level. there should be a box on the opposite side from the one that you came up from. Move that box and climb on top of it. From there you can climb up again. A huge catwalk will fall. Make a running jump and get to the other side. Next, jump onto the disco lights and enable the walk feature. Walk to your right, then turn again once you reach the the end of the frame. Jump and grab the edge. You must now climb the ladder. There should be a slide with a gap at the bottom. Slide down and jump to the other side. Then, turn left and make that jump. Straight ahead is a metal frame that you can jump to and grab. Shimmy across and pull yourself up. Walk to the edge of the wooden platform and jump to the next catwalk with a bridge. Kick the bridge down and break the door open. Go into the room and pull the left lever until the broken light is on the bottom left side of the square. Then, pull the right lever and you can collect the object. Go back across the bridge, then exit through the door that is in the room with the levers. Forget about the ladder in there, as all you get is a candy bar.

After the Louvre Storm Drain

After you complete the Louvre Storm Drain you will use a hallway that leads all the way up. On your way there, you will notice a door that Lara not strong enough to open. Continue going up until you reach the final door. Upon entering that door, you will see security lasers. If you step into them, a policeman will try to kill you and both doors will be barred. If you make a mistake, return to the entrance and press [Action] on the wall to the left. Climb up onto the first little glass case, turn right, and grab the ledge of that hanging “box”. Next, go to the end of that hanging “box” and do a running jump to the tall glass display. You must land directly on it; if you try to jump and grab the edge, the doors will bar again. Then, jump to the glass case that is to the right of the one that you landed on. From there, time your jump to the next case. You must now walk to the edge of the case you landed on. Grab the edge and shimmy across it, then turn the corner and land. There will now be two tall glass cases with a checkerboard laser net. Go to the glass case on your right. Jump up to grab the ledge, shimmy across it, land, and open the door. You will now see a room armed with a laser, and a policeman with a white shirt. Deliberately step into the laser and start shooting the cops. The one with the white shirt drops a card that you need. Next, go all the way to the back hall and pick up the medipack and press [Action] near the sign. Lara will say something. The door by the medi-pack is where you will come out of later. Go back to where you shot the white-shirted cop and enter the door. There will be another cop in the room. While armed, run into the room and kill the cop. You will see a portrait of Mona Lisa barred with laser in this room. Go to the end of the room and pull the small glass case away from the place it resides. Now that Lara is stronger, go to the glass case in the middle. Push it towards the painting of Mona Lisa until it stops on the stools. Next, go to where the small glass case used to be. You will see a card swipe. Press [Action], then run to the glass case in front of Mona Lisa. Climb the back and do a running jump. Press [Action] and grab the ledge over the painting and enter the vent. After you take these vents, you will get to the rooftops (where you get left off).

Madame Carvier’s room

When you are off the rooftops and into a small storage room, you will notice a hallway beyond the door of the storage room. You will see a door with a card swipe, Madame Carvier’s office all the way at the end of the hall, and two doors on the side. Open both doors, kill all the cops, and take whatever you can. Now, go to the second door where you can look into the cameras. Find the one with Madame Carvier’s room and zoom onto her computer. You will see the numbers to open her door. When you open her door, grab everything you can; one Ancient Sign is in her office. Then, go to the card swipe door and enter it. These halls will lead you to the Archaeological Dig.

Archaeological Dig

When you enter, you will have a few enemies. Run all the way to the end, and open the door to the room. Shoot the people inside and press [Action] on the gadget on the wall. Run out of the room and to your right until you see a small path to a large room with a computer. Look into the computer and search the ground (the second Ancient Sign is at the end of the plot), and print it. You now have two of the four Ancient Signs necessary to enter the Tomb Of Ancients. Now, climb down the ladders to the bottom of the archaeological dig and climb up the climbable wall. Drop down at the landing at the top. Look up, and you can monkey-bar across the bottom of the bridge above you. Be careful, as it is a long bridge and Lara’s strength is limited. Climb up onto the bridge and go to the place that you saw during the intermission sequence when you pressed [Action] on the gadget in the room. Press [Action] on the door. This will lower the improvised elevator. Now, drop down to the ledge beneath the bridge. Jump to the improvised elevator landing and you will now see a giant wheel. Look all the way in the back of your notebook. It will show you the first and last Ancient Sign. The middle two are the ones that you collected from the printers in Carvier’s office and the plot. Turn the wheel until you find the sign, and go up the stairs and turn the wheel to lock the sign in place. Once you have arranged the signs in order, the wheel will lock. Get back to the top of the bridge, and you will the see the circle on the ground has opened. You will fall into the next level, The Tomb of Ancients.

Defeating mummy-type knights

Engage the knights in close combat. Kick or punch them off a nearby ledge to get rid them for good.

Silver reward in Bolivia

On the first rope in Bolivia, turn left to find a cave that has a Silver reward.

Gold reward in Bolivia

After using the stone seesaw to boost the iron cages up to the platform, open the gate the normal way. Then, move one of the cages on the side off its plate just enough to lower the door one notch. Quickly move the cage back then climb over to the exit and scale the side of the doorway to get on top of the door. The gold reward is at the top.

Gold reward in Croft Manor

Before you can get the Gold reward, you must complete the Bolivia level or the rest of the manor will be closed off. Enter the Croft Manor and get the grapple. It is located in the computer room in a safe behind Zip. To unlock the safe, use a laptop on the floor. Once you get the grapple, get the pistols in Lara’s bedroom. To get the pistols, there are two knives that both need to be pulled. Then, go head to the library. To your right is a wall that can be broken by shooting it. After that is done, move the bookcase in the wall to one of the pressure switches on either side of Allister’s desk. Then, use the grapple to get down the other bookcase, which is above the pressure switch on the right. Put that bookcase on the other switch and a wall will open up. Grab the PLS on Allister’s desk. In the dark hallway is a switch. After you pull it, a large stone tablet with a clue will come out of the wall. The clue reads “Above the Waters, Twin Sisters turn their backs one upon the other to leave the Ambages unguarded”. Go to the end of the hallway and pull the second switch. Another wall will open up leading you back into the bedroom. With the first clue in hand, go to the pool. On the right side of the pool there are two fish statues that can be pulled out. Do so, then jump onto the shortest one. Jump on to the pole, swing to the ledge, jump to the other statue, onto the second pole, then onto the balcony. There are two Greek statues. Rotate them so they face away from each other. Once they are in position, another clue will appear: “Within the Hall of Knowledge, Tomes of Cerulean, Topaz, Viridian and Crimson in turn reveal their Arcanum”. Go back to the library and push in the blue book to the right of the door. Then, go to the small room upstairs. Push in the yellow book, then the green book, outside the room. Go back downstairs and push in the red book. Once this has been done, a wall will open, revealing the third clue: “Above the Hearth, revealed visage and countenance touched in haste raise up the Steward”. Go back to the front lobby. To the right of the door leading to the library is a switch that just came out of the wall. Before you use it, use the grapple to pull out the poles leading to the other switch. After that, push the switch, swing to the other side, and use the other. The fourth and final clue will then come out of the wall: “The risen Athena turns to face the Sun, whose burden then reveals the Golden Laurel”. A statue has arisen in the middle of the front lobby downstairs. Turn it so that it faces the window above the stairs then stand on the pressure switch. The statue will then go back into the ground and a stone pillar with the Gold reward will appear from the ground in its place.

Gold reward in Ghana

At the end of the level, when you stand on the button that opens the timed door, do not enter that door. Instead, go to the under the door to find the Gold reward.

Gold reward in Japan

When you reach a room which has a hanging dragon in it, look for a large red box. Throw it to the floor to break it and get the Gold reward.

Defeating the Project Carbonek Boss in Kazakhstan

After the creature is released, run around the dome and turn all four switches on. When you have pressed all the switches, four balls with come down from the ceiling. Get onto the magnetic gun in the middle of the room, and then shoot the balls with the magnetic gun; when a ball is in place it will lower a shield from the sword fragment hanging above your head. This may take some time because the monster will keep knocking you off the gun, and each hanging ball only stays in place for a few seconds. When you have all four balls pointing towards you, a chamber will open above your head and the sword fragment will appear. Get off the gun and point up towards the sword fragment and grapple it. When you have it, an intermission sequence will begin and the level will end.

Play soccer in Peru

At the beginning of the level, look to your right to see a soccer ball. You can shoot the ball around and kick it past the dummy in between the fences to score a goal.

Legacy Of Kain reference

In Croft Manor, on the right-hand side of the main stairs is a portrait of Kain, as it appears in Legacy Of Kain: Defiance. Eidos, producer of Tomb Raider, also produces the Legacy Of Kain series.

Lara’s basement and race course key

Go to the Library. When Lara walks in the doorway, there are two bookcases to the right. Approach the one on the left and press Action. Then, Lara will pull a book and the fire will extinguish, allowing her to climb up the side wall inside the fireplace. After reaching the top, follow the passageways until reaching a room with two levels, with a switch on the top level. Pull the blocks in a way that a hallway leading into the attic is revealed. When Lara pulls the switch, the basement door will temporarily open. Quickly run through the attic, and down to the main hall to reach the basement. Once in the basement, walk through to the second room and look in the tank on the right side. Inside is the key to the race course. To collect it, pull the block in the other room to the center. Climbing up to the hall that leads into the tank.

Lara’s museum

Activate the switch behind the diving board in Lara’s pool room. Then, go to the door it opens in her main hall. Pull the switch, sprint straight across her lobby and roll into her museum. Artifacts including The Dagger of Xian are in her museum. -From: David Nield and Andrew Holland

Hint: Handstand and Flip Mantle
Hold the X BUTTON and stick direction towards Lara’s front when she clings onto a ledge for her to do a handstand mantle (high ledge) or flip mantle (low ledge).

Hint: Stuck In Rock or In Mid-Air?
Occasionally Lara becomes hung up on her environment or atop some breakable jars. If she cannot jump out of her predicament, try having her duck (hold the crouch button) and see if she can nudge herself out of being stuck.

Exploding Lara
Draw any weapon, then walk one step forward, one step backwards, turn around in a circle three times then jump backwards.

Get Outside of Lara’s Front Gate
In the practice level you can get outside of Lara’s front gate. Simply go to the last obstacle(the rope slide) walk to the edge with the rope slide and side step right all the way you can. After this you must turn about an 1/8 of a turn towards the wall. Now jump in the air, without pushing any direction buttons, while in the air press the look button and forward, and let go before landing. Repeat this process a few more times and by about the third jump you should be on top of the tower and able to jump onto Lara’s outside wall. Don’t ask me why this happens must be a glich in the game. From here you can get outside of Lara’s front gate or even get a view of her hedge maze, from above.

Goodbye Butler
Tired of the pesky butler following you around everywhere in Lara’s home? Walk into the kitchen and open the freezer, go inside and wait for the butler to arrive. Once he comes in jump over him and close the door behind you. Bye, bye, butler.

Handstand
When Lara is hanging from a ledge, hold the WALK button and press UP to do a handstand.
Level Skip updates
While playing, pull out a flare then hold shift and move one step forward, one step backwards, turn around 3 times, and jump forward.

Shortcut Thru Bartoli’s Hideout
After you get the Stone Dragon, go to the previous room where you flipped the secret switch. Break out to the window where there will be a guard that drops the Uzi Clip. Go to the left side of the balcony and in the corner of the two railings. Face the orange building with shingles on the roof. Do a standing jump grab and twist right or left a little. You should grab the shingles. Get the Detonator Key and continue your level.

Survive Large Falls
If you fall off a reasonably high ledge hold the roll button and you will roll as you hit the ground. This does not work if the fall is so high it makes Lara scream.

Swan Dive
To make Lara do a Swan Dive, Hold Ctrl+Shift+Forward while jumping

Dive off a high ledge and about half way through the dive hold the roll button and Lara will roll before hitting the water.

Unlimited ammo
Finish the game and reload any level you will have unlimited ammo for every gun, unlimited medi-packs, unlmited flares and the enemies are harder.

Venice Tip
To avoid the timed sequence at the end of the Venice section, just leave the boat in the room where the last swich is that opens the exit and swim out under the door and then swim to the exit. You’ll get another boat at the start of Bartoli’s Hideout.

Secret Room in Lara’s House
When you explore the outside of the house go to the front door and open it. Walk straight in and look at the two halls on each side of the clock. You will be coming back to the righthand hall after you hit the switch I’m getting ready to tell you about.
Leave from the door you just opened and go to your left, head into the maze. Go left always in the maze unless your only option is to go right. When you get to the back of the maze you will see a brick wall, look down the hall and you will see two openings. Take the first opening to the right and fall into the hole. Then go to the end of the hall and jump out, push the button on the wall and you will see a cinema of the door opening back in the house. This door is timed, so you have to be fast.

Go back the way you came in, jump out of the hole and go left. Then keep following the maze turning right everytime unless you have to turn left. Exit the maze at the end and run back into the house and through the door. It leads to the basement below, where you’ll you will see several chests and windows on each side. It looks like a huge statue is on the right.

All Weapons
To get all the guns and full ammo, walk one step forward, one step backwards (you must use the Shift key), then turn around three times counter-clockwise, then jump backwards.

Extra Ammo
To obtain 5000 rounds for the Uzi, 87 shells for the Shotgun, and 500 bullets for the Magnum - In the beginning, walk forward once, walk back once, turn around three times (where you face your forward direction) and flip backwards. You should hear a faint click to confirm the code.

Handstand
When Lara is hanging from a ledge, hold the WALK button and press UP to do a handstand.
Level Skip
To skip the current level, walk one step forward, one step backwards (you must use the Shift key), then turn around three times counter-clockwise, then jump forward. This is a great way to see the FMV clips.

Unlimited Ammo
If you win the game and reload any saved level you’ll have all weapons, unlimited ammo and more enemies to defeat.

Cheat: Infinite Medpacks
For this cheat you must have less than 100% health and only have one medpack in your inventory.
In the inventory screen, press “look” and 9 and use your last medpack unlimited Large Medpacks.
In the inventory screen, press “look” and 0 and use your last medpack for unlimited Small Medpacks.
