Easy money

Find an easy race such as a drag or something short that you can win quickly. Win the race and get the money. Go back to the safe house and start the race again. Win the race to get the same amount of money again. Repeat this process as much as desired. This is quite useful when you need that extra bit of power to defeat a Blacklist Rival, but don’t have the money for a better car or parts.

Defeat one of the opponents on the blacklist. You will get two marks to use on several different things. Do not use them on the Uniques early in the game. Instead, use them on the middle or the left “Random” choices. They should usually come out to either a large cash bonus or the opponent’s pink slip.

Easy upgrades

Before you can do anything, you must win the Burger King Challenge. Once you win it, you will unlock all unique parts (also called Junkman parts). Get any car and put all the parts on it except performance. Once you have your car the way you desire, go to the performance shop. Max out your car, then put the Junkman parts on. Max out your car again. Then put on the Junkman parts again. Your car should be fully upgraded now.

Easy bounty

Get some cops to chase you, then go to the bus stop. Get on top of the buses and make sure that the front of the car is at the edge of the last bus so that the cops can see you and do not lose you. Keep looking behind you, because the cops will sometimes find a way on top of the buses. When they do get on the buses, just reverse as soon as you see them coming and push them off. Only one cop car will come on top of the bus. Do this for as long as desired. When you want to lose them, just reverse, park in the middle of the buses, and wait until your Cool Down bar fills. The cops will also drive crazy and crash into themselves, giving you extra bounty and bring up your rap sheet rankings on police vehicles immobilized and police vehicles involved.

Getting the most money when selling your car

When you sell a car, you will only get half of its list value; however, there is a trick that works well for Pinkslips that you have won and no longer want. Take your car to the shop, then go to the parts area. Go into the body kit, spoiler, hood, rims, and roof air areas and set everything to stock. When you check out, you will see anywhere from $1,000 to $18,000, depending on what Pinkslip car you are stripping. Do not try this with performance parts. The shop will charge you money for downgrading. Once you have stripped your car of all accessories, leave and go to your safe house. Sell the car, and you will have made a lot of money on the side. Do this every time you intend to sell any car.

Quick start

Get a perfect launch on your tachometer when launching from the start line to get a boost. When the needle turns blue drop the clutch and hold on.

Nitrous and grip

Hitting nitrous torques the chassis back, giving the rear tires immensely more weight under the new acceleration. The end effect is that you will go straight. If your tail is sliding out or you are about to spin out of control, hit your nitrous to get straighten out. This is a great trick in combination with Speedbreaker. With the correct timing, you can take most corners at any speed.

Nitrous boosting

It is critical when you get past Blacklist Member #6 to use your nitrous wisely and strategically. Instead of just holding Nitrous in desperation to get ahead, press and release it when the tachometer is about to shift to the next gear. Upon the next gear shift, continue pressing Nitrous until the next upcoming gear shift. This is a great way to cut time off your race.

Avoid and remove strikes

After getting busted and taking a strike, turn off the system the next time you get pulled over. Resume the game and those strikes will be removed.

Avoiding police

Go to the bus terminal with any Heat Level. Normally you would go left or right to take the jump or drive up the middle to take the shortcut. Instead of using the ramps to jump, stop at the apex of the ramp, then turn and drive in the middle of the walkway. Stop there and wait. The cops will not come up the ramp after you if you are in the middle of the walkway. No matter what the Heat Level, the cops will not get you and they will eventually drive away.

When completing a race, if the police radio in the car you are driving and you do not want to run from them, press Down and choose another race. Alternately, you may also jump to your safe house (must be done before you are seen or the pursuit begins). If not, you must drive to it yourself in Cool Down mode. To jump to the safe house, pause the game and press Right until seen. Additionally, upon reaching level 4 (Most Wanted) there will be a lot of police chasing you. At this level, cops are excellent at boxing you in. If you cannot move forward, use reverse for a couple of seconds to get away from the block; spin your car around and get out of there.

The best way to escape the police is to evade long enough to get into Cool Down mode, then find a hiding spot. By sticking to the cities you will find lots of Cool Down spots to sit and hide your car until the heat is off. This is also a good way to avoid helicopters which appear if your reach level 4 on your map. Another good method is to run into the triangles on your map, which mark places where you can ram into shops and other roadside items to disable the cops. Highways are good places to get blockades and strike strips which are challenges for milestones. Additionally, never respawn your car in a pursuit, as the police will always catch you.

An easy way to get away from cops at high wanted levels is to find the baseball field. Look on the map for a small triangle towards the top left. Use highways in a circle around the field to achieve your missions. Once you have gained enough bounty, city damage, roadblocks, etc., drive through an entrance to the baseball field, hitting the pursuit breaker on the way in. Make sure that you slow down some before hitting the breaker so that it does not send you through the other side of the field. Once you make it in the field, stay there and wait out the Cool Down period. The cops should be off of you and will not be able to find you. This works almost all the time to get rid of the cops. Just driving through random blockers rarely works when you are at wanted levels 4 and 5.

Levels of police action

The various levels of police action are as follows:

Heat Level 1: Marked patrol cars and cruisers. They mostly chase and try to run you off the road. If you have a quick car, they are not hard to get away from.

Heat Level 2: Unmarked patrol cars and cruisers, roadblocks. The police mainly try to ram you off the road and setup roadblocks. Avoid roadblocks by doing an emergency brake lock U-turn or go through them. You can get through by ramming the cars on either end of the roadblock or by going through a weak point like the sawhorse or a gap between the cars. Use Speedbreaker to see the weak point in the roadblocks and use nitrous to ram straight through. Some road blocks will not extend all the way across the road — you can go through where they have not placed a car.

Heat Level 3: Marked GTO (Monaro) police cars, marked 4WDs (Rhinos), rolling road blocks, roadblocks. These are quicker and you need to use objects to knock down in front of them to disable them. Lead the chase with these vehicles through the cities to use knock down points (for example, the giant donut sign, etc.) to disable the vehicles and end the chase. Then, find somewhere to hide when you hit Cool Down mode. “Rhinos” will ram you from the front. Listen for the call over the police radio. You can usually see these coming on your map or on the road ahead. Depending on which car you have, you can get away with ramming them head on. Otherwise, just use Speedbreaker again to change lanes before they ram you.

Heat Level 4: Unmarked GTO (Monaro) police cars, helicopters, spike strips. The unmarked GTOs (Monaros) usually chase in packs and are very hard to avoid. They will try to box you in by surrounding the car from the front and back and slamming the brakes to take away any room you have to escape. Avoid this by staying ahead and using the same tactics used in level 3. For the helicopters, use tunnels and underground parking lots to escape from them. When they spot you, they can radio the police to your location. Spike strips are set up usually on main roads and highways. You can see them on the map when you see only one vehicle over to left of the road not driving (i.e., pulled over). Aim for the police car and use nitrous to ram it and get away. If you hit the spike strip you will get caught.

Heat Level 5: You will not reach this level until you are at Blacklist #3. When you reach this level, all the best and toughest police come out. The helicopters get more aggressive, there are more spikes, and more belts are called in on you. You must also deal with “cross” cop Corvettes. Cross and his team will apprehend you at all cost. Like in level 4, the unmarked GTO cars will surround and box you in and hit the brakes. Corvettes will also try to use rolling road blocks. If you reach level 5, make sure you are in your fastest vehicle. You will need the nitrous.

Higher Heat levels

You start Campaign mode only being able to achieve Heat levels 1 and 2 (City Police). By defeating certain Blacklist Rivals, you can then achieve the higher Heat levels:

Heat level 3 (State Police): Defeat the Blacklist Rival #13.
Heat level 4 (Undercover State Troopers): Defeat the Blacklist Rival #9.
Heat level 5 (Federal Authorities): Defeat the Blacklist Rival #5.
Heat level 6 (Cross’ Street Racin’ Unit): Defeat the Blacklist Rival #1 (final level only).
After you beat the Rockport’s Most Wanted level, Heat level 5 will then consist of both the Federal Authorities and Cross’ Street Racin’ Unit.

Regaining control

When approaching a corner at a high speed, quickly assess whether or not you can get through it cleanly as fast as possible and without touching the inside or outside barriers. If you start drifting (or worse, careening out of control) toward a barrier, turn on your Speedbreaker in order to regain control via increased handling and traction. During this period of slowed time, straighten out your car and put it back into an ideal racing line. Once you are straight and driving in the correct direction, quickly turn off Speedbreaker and hit the Nitrous hard to rip out of the remainder of the corner.

Better car performance

After upgrading your car with engines, suspension, brakes, etc., pause the game and go to “Performance Tuning”. For better handling for the Lamborghini, Porsche, Corvette, and Viper, set the “Height” of you car to “-1″. If you need more gripping power either take the “Height” to “-2″ or set the “Aerodynamics” to “+1″. If you go overboard with the performance tuning options (anything past “+3″ or “-3″), the car will actually handle worse.

Recommended car

The best start car to use until you get the Eclipse is the Cobalt SS. When you win blacklist races, try for the three “?” markers. You can get cash or the pink slip car. If you get their car, go to the safe house and sell it. You can get good money by doing this, and get unique upgrades after you start getting into the visuals (after you switch from the Cobalt). After you defeat Ming and get get his Lamborghini, it should make progressing further in the game easier. When you get his Lamborghini, go to the tuner shop and add in any upgrades needed for performance.

After beating Blacklist #8, you will have a choice to buy the Lotus Elise. At this point you should have enough money to buy it. If not, you may want sell to get enough money. Once you have the money, buy that car. It is great at road handling, and is very fast once you have maxed out its performance. Note: The stock top speed and handling do not look high at first.

Car upgrade test

If you are unsure which car is the best to use when upgraded, you can upgrade all the cars that are unlocked for free in the main menu. Go to “My Cars”, select a car that is available, and upgrade it with the parts that are available. By doing this, you will not waste all your money in Career mode.

Blacklist cars

If you win the Pinkslips to a Blacklist car, you may want to use the Blacklist car as your own and make the necessary upgrades to performance, as most of the upgrades will have been already made by the Blacklist owner. You usually do not need to spend too much money to increase the performance, handling, etc. Sometimes these cars will have upgrades that have not been unlocked yet, but most of these are usually visual. Only do this if the vehicle you have won has better attributes than the one you are currently driving in its standard mode. You can check this out in the car shop. It is a good idea to keep about three to five nice quick cars in your safehouse.

Blacklist milestones

Blacklist milestones are things you need to do to rack up your bounty so you can challenge the next person on the Blacklist. Check these out so you know what you need to do to increase your points. Once the milestones are completed, you must work on increasing the points. The best way to do this is to cause as much major damage as possible by taking out police cars, traffic, and crashing through shops (for example, the donut shop and other places you will notice in the later levels). Try to rack up as much bounty and escape before your status has reached level 4. If your status is already level 4, then choose a different car for awhile until the status goes down before returning to your preferred car. Once your status hits level 4, it is harder to get into Cool Down mode to find somewhere to hide. Avoid getting caught, as you will lose the bounty you have racked up during the chase.

Preventing points deducted for damage

Normally points get deducted for wrecking your vehicle when you participate in any career race. However, if you race in any one race and wreck your car, do not repair it. Any other race that you race with that car will no longer take points off for damage. By doing this, you can get the full 500 points toward dominating an event. Note: This only works while in the same car previously damaged during an earlier event.

Recommended dragster

The Toyota Supra with all Level 4 performance parts can do the quarter mile in under 7 seconds if tuned properly. -From: Barry Woods

A really good dragster is the Dodge Challenger R/T. The car runs 7.6 seconds in the quarter mile fully upgraded. If you make the rear shocks stiff, the car will stand on the rear end all the way down the track, and will do over 1,000 foot wheelies. If you make the rear shocks soft, you can run 7.6 seconds in the quarter mile and not have to worry about the front end lifting up. Some tuning will be needed, and knowledge of cars will definitely help.

A good dragster is the Nissan 240SX. The first chance you get, choose the 240SX. Put on all the best performance parts you can afford. Remember, you need a lot of speed and traction. After you start setting new track records, you will be invited to race Karol Monroe the Drag King.

Defeating Ryo Watanabe

Use the following cars to defeat Ryo Watanabe. Upgrade all cars with Level 4 performance parts and max out the aerodynamics. Note: Bring lots of Total Markers to Race Day.

Grip: Pagani Zonda. Use a “Free Car Marker” for this car, if available. You can also use this car to defeat the Grip King.

Drag: Ford Shelby GT500 or Chevrolet Chevelle SS. Do not do anything to the aerodynamics of the Chevelle. You can also use those cars to defeat the Drag King.

Drift: BMW Z4 M Coupe. Even though it has low stats, it is a great drift car. You can use this car to defeat the Drift King. Alternately, use the Mazda RX-7 if you have won it from the Drift King. It already has all Level 4 performance parts; all you have to do to it is increase its aerodynamics.

Speed: Ford GT. You can also use this car to defeat the Speed King.

Cheap chars

Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the “cars.ini” file in the “cars” sub-folder in the game directory. Change the values after the “price=” and “nfsprice=” lines to “10″. You can now buy all cars for $10 each.

Faster cars

Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the “cars.ini” file in the “cars” sub-folder in the game directory. Change the “mass=” value to “100″ for a faster car.

Open the folder of a powerful car, such as the F1, F50, etc. Copy the “car.ini” file from here and paste it over the original “car.ini” file of a slower car in its own folder (for example, the Elise). This instantly gives that car the speed and handling characteristics of the better vehicle. Note: Back up the original “car.ini” file of the slower car in the event that you want to revert it back to its standard settings.

Extra points

If you see a police car ahead, ram it to get him to chase you. Lose the police car and you will get extra points for a hit-and-run. Look for the dirt road shortcuts to lose the police and get ahead of other drivers. Also, choose to be the police in Hot Pursuit mode. You will get 25,000 points each time you complete one mini-mission.

Start You’re The Cop mode in single player under the beginner difficulty setting. Select either the Crown Victoria or the BMW M5 (the opponents are easier to catch). Then, go to National Forest and catch the fourth and third cars. On the last two, hit the third one to make him lose control, then arrest the first place car. Immediately catch the second player that you forced to lose control to minimize the time to around 138, if done quickly enough. The procedure is quick but easy, giving you over 25,000 points if you throw in a couple of jumps. Then, restart and do it again.

Police check

If you have the Rear Mirror option on, you should see a meter (radar detection meter) at the bottom of it. If you do not see this meter, it indicates that there are no police in the current race. If you happen to see that meter at the bottom of your rear view mirror, be aware as there are law enforcers on that course.

Police detection

When you are driving, be aware of the shadowed bar below the rearview mirror. It will start to climb with green and then red as you close in on a cop. If a cop is already chasing you and has issued a roadblock, watch the bar. If the strip started with yellow, it indicates that a road block is approaching.

Predict police actions

Turn the “Speech” option on high in the “Audio” screen when the police are on your tail, especially when police may be present on the race course. Be aware that the police may say something about roadblocks and where they are, as well as what they may try to do to end your speeding frenzy.

Yellow stars

On the upper-right corner of the screen are four star shadows. Each time you break a law or do something bad, you will get a yellow star. For example, a hit-and-run is two stars. If you get four yellow stars, you should beware of roadblocks, including the choppers.

Clean race

There will be two objectives you will have to do to unlock two kinds of cars. These two involve clean racing. For a clean race, avoid hitting any object that inflicts damage on your car, such as hitting another car, a wall, etc. Hitting road signs, going offroad, or landing very hard on big jumps are excluded since those do not do any damage.

Scared opponents

All of your opponents can be scared. If your opponents are directly besides you, suddenly steer towards them, as if you were trying to ram their car off the road. They will panic and veer away from your sudden move. If you are lucky, they may veer away too much, thus causing them to crash into an object, slowing them down. Easy money

Once you have completed Career mode, set Samson as your wingman with Neville also in your crew. You can repeat any races you have already completed in which a wingman is used and recieve $750 for each race completed instead of the $500 without. This can also be used on first time races for maximum cash output.

Easy wins

Enable the “Infinite nitrous” and “Infinite SpeedBreaker” codes. Keep using SpeedBreaker and nitrous through the entire race. This will make it an unfair slow motion race, which is very long but a sure win. To boost the effects, enable the “Infinite crew charge” code as well and have a drafter as active. Then, use your drafter during the entire race. It is faster, but still painfully long. Note: This cannot be used in Quick Race, Challenge Series, or Canyon Duels.

In races where crew members are used, use a scout (Yumi if possible). If you do not win the race, your scout usually will.

In Career mode, choose the Exotic class. When you get to the Stacked Deck level, get a Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Neville, Colin, and Nikki should still have exotic cars. Choose one of them and do any race where you can use your wingman. You should get an easy win.

Easier Speedtrap races

Activate your Blocker/Brawler before the race. While racing and coming up towards a speed trap, stop your Blocker/Brawler. Your Blocker/Brawler will stop, crash the other car(s), and drastically slow down their time. Remember that the peak Blocker/Brawler moment is just before the speed trap.

Avoid flipping

When you are about to flip, hit the nitrous. It will stabilize your car and you will not flip.

Avoiding police

When the police are looking for you but have not yet found you (when the map blinks red), back up against a wall. The cops will go past, but will not catch or see you. They will then drive away.

Getting away from police

Activate Speed Breaker. While in Speed Breaker, press Hand Brake to do a wicked turn-around. Use NOS while accelerating out of the turn-around to gain quick distance between you and the cops.

Free performance parts

Go into “My Crew” then choose a crew member. Select the “View Car” option, then customize it. You can paint it whatever color desired, and because your crew members cars are not tuned you can buy them performance parts for free.

Eleanor (Gone In 60 Seconds) custom car

Need For Speed: Underground 2 Cheats, Codes, Cheat Codes for PC

Original Need For Speed: Underground drift races

Win all Street X races to unlock the drift races from the original Need For Speed: Underground.

Winning an outrun

Once you have found an opponent to outrun with, get in front of the opponent and get in the lead. Get as far as possible until the distance meter has reached its limit. If the distance meter starts to drop, it indicates that the opponent is catching up. When this happens, do a handbrake skid and turn the car around. Go back the way that you came from. The opponent will follow you as you are the one in lead, but he will take time to catch up, giving you an advantage to win the outrun.

If you are in front of an opponent but cannot seem to lose him, head toward the center of the city (the area that has the five fountains). Once there, weave through the fountains. Your opponent will most likely crash into one of the fountains, giving you an easy win. Note: Practice going through the fountains first before you attempt an outrun so you do not lose your money. It is easier to do this in an SUV because it will not reach a high speed before you reach the fountains.

Find an outrun opponent then get right behind him. Draft him or her so that you can get a full tank of NOS, if desired. Then, start to spin out your opponent. You can do this by getting directly next to the car and turning into its back corner. While it is sideways or backwards, you can hit press Up to start the outrun. You will have a large head start because your opponent needs to turn around. You can win in under 15 seconds by doing this.

This trick requires that most of the city is unlocked. Get your car and get on the highway that leads around in a oval-like way. Challenge people on the highway for a much better chance of winning, since top speeds are better and there are less turns than the normal roads (so you do not slow down as much).

This trick requires a fast accelerating car. Drive to the airport where you first start the game, Next, find an opponent to race. While racing the opponent, make sure you get into the lead then go onto a little ramp the leads to a road just alongside the airport. After going down that road, you should be at an intersection where you can go left or straight. Take a left turn, then go straight down that road, which should be a parking lot. Once your opponent tries to catch up to you and gets close to the intersection, he will go straight instead of turning. This will give you a large lead and an easy win.

Start race with a full bar of nitrous. Come up from behind your opponent and draft until the nitrous is full, then do a tailspin maneuver. Do this by clipping the back bumper of your opponent, which sends them into the wall or in reverse. They will end up facing the wrong direction, giving you the advantage.

Find an opponent and draft behind them until you have full NOS (for backup, if you have at least a dryshot installed). When it is full, pull up next to them. Wait until you can challenge them, then start it. Then, ram your opponent at the rear tire. Keep pushing and to cause them to wipe out and stop, or crash into a wall. Then just drive off on a long straight road and use your saved up NOS. If you do not win it, you will at least have a very nice lead.

Winning Street X

In order to win Street X, you must take the turns wide at first then sharpen up your turns. This will help you add to your lead, and most likely you will win.

Easier turns in URL races

Notice that before the sharp turns during the URL races, there are a set of numbers that countdown to 1. Follow those numbers to perfect your sharp turn into a groove to speed through faster. Keep accelerating until you reach “1″, then slam on the brakes and turn. Once perfected, this can help you get through the turns with more speed. Additionally, in URL races, the CPU will try to spin you a lot. Whenever your car slides to an 30 to 60 degree angle, use your NOS and turn.

Some turns in URL races do not require brakes. Notice that the angles of some of the turns are kind of rounded. If you have the speed, you could go right into the wall and make the turn. As long as you are going about 130 mph and hit these certain corners, you will only go down to 100 mph or so. You have to experiment with the turns. Sometimes you will go too fast and flip, and other times you will fly through the turns going 100 mph while the CPU cars slow down, giving you some cushion time. Remember, you must get up against the wall for this trick to work.

In the first few laps, you will most likely be behind someone. When you are going on a turn, they will probably slow down. This is where you can turn the tables on the entire race. Do not slow down. Instead, keep going and use him as a wall to get the inside of the turn without applying the brake. As a bonus you may also get him to stop in an attempt to shake you, but this will only result in getting you a good lead. Note: You must make sure he does not ram you into the wall.

Finding hidden shops

Look at road signs around the city. They often have colored shapes (yellow triangles, etc.) to guide the way to the shops. Also, look for street-lights casting a colored glow. This indicates that there is a shop very close.

Finding more races

If you cannot find any more races on your map, then you need to find all the hidden shops in the city. After you find all the shops, you will be asked to be on another DVD cover. Follow the star to get to the next level.

Easy NOS recovery

When you are on the ground, activate hydros and keep flicking the Left Analog-stick Left repeatedly to get lots of points for filling your NOS bar. You can also do about three donuts, then wait and do another three donuts.

Get on the highway and drive in reverse. After a few seconds you should begin racking up points on the right side of your screen. These points will give you extra NOS. Note: Crashing into traffic at high speeds will reduce your NOS.

If you run out of NOS in free roam mode, pause the game and select “Jump To Garage”. As soon as you can, exit garage mode and you should have full NOS. Note: This only fills up the first tank.

Use the following trick to get extra NOS at the beginning of a race. When the girls are up front waving their hands, tap NOS to perform a “spray show”. This should give you a little extra NOS.

Go to any shop. Enter the shop, then leave it. You will have a full tank of NOS. You can also recover NOS by doing one of the following things:

Sprayshow: Purge your nitrous.
Traffic Hit: Penalty from hitting traffic.
Lead Lap: Lead a lap in the race.
Clean Section: Make it through an entire race section without hitting anything.
Clean Lap: Make it through an entire lap without hitting anything.
Shortcut: Take a shortcut.
Avoid Accident: Almost get in a wreck with another car.
360: Perform a 360 or a doughnut while driving.
Best Lap: Score a best lap during a race.
Head Start: Get off the starting line the quickest.
J Turn: Drive in reverse and swing the car around to drive away forwards.
Burnout: Spin the tires.
Leap Frog: Jump your car over a traffic accident.
Hydro Bounce: Bounce your car using level 3 hydraulics.

Easy money

In the career mode menu, go to the world map. Select any race that has not been completed in any stage. Once the race has started, pause game play and restart. After you have won the race, a screen will appear showing you how many reputation points and how much bank you have won. You will then go to the menu that asks if you want to return to explore mode, restart, etc. When this appears choose “Return To Main Menu”. You do not have to save the game. Then, just go back into the career menu and select the “World Map” option again. Choose another race that has not been completed and start it. If done correctly, all of the races in the world map will be against three Toyota Corollas or a mixture of Hummers, Escalades and Navigators. If you restart these races, you will always get money if you win.

Collecting the little information logos around the city gives you money. You will receive $25 for each one. Additionally, listen to the other racers that periodically talk to you. They will say a general location in the city where you can find hidden races not shown on the map that are worth $850 instead of the usual $300.

As soon as you start the game, ignore Rachel’s request to go to the car lot. Instead, try to collect as many information icons as possible. This will give you that little extra money to start modding your car, and will save time as you do not have to look for them in your initially slow car. Also, enter the two races shown on your GPS (circuit and sprint races). Going in these two races will give you at least 500 points in the bank. You should receive a message to get to the car lot now. Do so, and continue playing the game.

Enter career mode and go down to the Burger King and Best Buy area. Drive around and look for a stone wall and alley by the town shops. Go into the alley and turn sharply to the right. There will be a parking lot where an opponent will be sitting. He will not be appear on your navigation map, nor will you. You can challenge this opponent to an easy outrun. He will always drive towards the stadium. After you beat him, return to the parking lot where two red info messages will appear. Get them for $25 each. After you collect them, go into a garage, shop, etc., and save the game. Then, go back to the parking lot. Five green money bags will be there. Collect them, jump to the garage (on the main menu screen) and return for five more. This will get you money much easier than racing.

In career mode, eventually you will get sponsored and there will be purple crosses on the map. If you go to them, they are usually a sponsored circuit race. If you win them, you will get $900.

When you start with Rachel’s car, do not take it back immediately. Instead, do some outruns and races to get money. You will then have a boost of money when you get your own car.

Easy style points

To do this, you will need at least level 1 hydraulics. Drive up against a wall and activate your hydraulics. Then, press the Gas and stay up against the wall. You may need to turn sometimes to keep it straight. You should start to get points on the right side of your screen. Additionally, driving in reverse will give you style points. The longer you drive in reverse, the more points you will receive.

Easy wins

When racing for magazine covers, unique performance or visual parts, it helps if you have both NOS bottles filled. This can help you beat that tenth of a second that you have always missed. It also helps, especially in the more difficult and longer stages, with small time limits, to immediately activate the GPS as soon as you have accepted the challenge.

Easy drag race wins

Instead of using nitrous by holding it down and wasting it all at once, just keep tapping NOS as fast as you can. You will gain 1 to 3 mph with every tap, which is actually increases your speed faster than if you were to hold it down. Also, you will run out of it about one third as fast. Try this on the hardest difficulty setting.

Get bank for races

There are five stages, and as you complete each of them you can go back and repeat the races again. You may even find that there are some races you missed. These are the ones that you want to race. When you go to these, you are not supposed to get anything for them but you can change that. To access these races, go to your garage, then your world map, and select a race. When the race begins, pause game play and restart the race. Notice that there is an option to return to world map, however after you restart it will not be there. You can now race and get bank for it.

Drift mode

In drift mode, set your car up using the following this basic structure. Tune the ECU to have as much torque as you can get in the early gears. Make all of the suspension settings as hard as possible to eliminate shock travel. This will help get the back end out. Turn the tire grip to weak. Also, make the cars acceleration as quick as possible. For the toe settings, lower it all the way. Make the aero settings as weak as possible. Set the brake bias towards rear. By doing this, you will greatly increase your score, especially on the downhill. On the straight-aways you can do Choku-Doris (go from side to side) to rack up big points. You can then link them to power over-steer drifts, which is when you will use the torque and acceleration to lose traction in the back tires, then use carefully timed throttle control to get around the corner as sideways as possible. This will help your drifts scores get as high as possible. Throttle control is very important — do not get discouraged if you spin out a lot. Note: This has not been attempted on FF or AWD cars. FF and AWD cars will most likely have a softer suspension setting but everything else would probably remain the same. FF and AWD cars also need the hand brake to initiate drifts more than a FR car would.

Easy drift points

Some of the downhill drift races have houses with looping drive ways that you can drive in. Drifting in these driveways gets a lot more points than on the street because you are so far off the road and are not hitting a wall.

Go into Quick Race mode and select the Subaru Impreza with all extreme or level 3 performance parts. You may style the visual as desired, Then, choose Drift Track 6 and 10 laps with easy opponents. Drive through the middle of the track. When you are just before a corner, press the handbrake. Release it after you have slightly slid. Your car will soon almost spin and will drift through easily. Continue through the rest of the track by swerving on the straights and using the handbrake properly on the corners. You can get about 50,000 to 500,000 drift points at the end of the race.

Final race

The final race is against Caleb (the man that tells Nikki to win, then she loses and joins your team) on a 4.5 mile track and 5 laps. However, he only gets up to about 130 mph.

Lift tire off ground

To get a left rear tire off the ground, go to “Customize Car” and put hydraulics on the Pontiac GTO. Go to free ride mode and put the rear of the car off the ground with the hydraulics. Then, push the gas and hit the brakes. The left rear of the car will comes off the ground. Note: You must have the level 2 brakes.

Get car on either side of the wheels

This trick requires all of the level 2 upgrades, and hydraulics upgrade level 2. Get the hydraulics to either side of the car, and only that one side. Then, do a donut to the right if the left side of the car is lifted and vice versa. This only happens for a moment.

Endo

Get any car and put level 3 hydraulics on it. Put on level 3 brakes. You can also use all level 3 engine parts to make it go higher. First, put the rear end up. Then, bounce the back. Next, go about 17 mph (or faster) and hit the brake. If done correctly, you could have the entire back end of the car straight up.

Avoid spins with Mustang GT

In career mode when you unlock The Mustang GT, be careful when you put in the top engine with the top ECU. When going fast, watch out for sharp turns. You might spin out in a race; try to work on your handling.

Fast career car

Use the following trick to create an extremely fast and high starred car quickly. When you start career mode, choose a Peugeot 106. Try not to get any upgrades unless you need them. Keep winning races and playing through the game until you unlock the Toyota Celica This can be made into the fastest car in the game. Get it immediately when it is unlocked. This should be sometime in level 2. Play through the game, making sure to take the opportunity to do of any outruns. This will unlock unique upgrades. When you unlock the unique part, you will have to go to a star on the map first. The game will tell you to go to a certain shop, depending on what the unique is. The first one is a unique hood. You must win four outruns for it. Then in stage 3, you need will need three outrun wins for a unique engine, transmission, or tire set. Choose the engine. For unique rims , get six wins in stage 3. The spoilers require four wins on stage 4. The vinyls require six wins on stage 4. The ECU, turbo or brakes require nine wins on stage 4. Select the ECU. The NOS, weight or suspension uniques require six wins on stage 5. Select NOS for an extra long boost. Finally, the wide body kits uniques require eleven wins on stage 5. Put all of these on your Celica, and it will be the fastest car in the game. Note: Do not forget to install the performance upgrades up to level 3.

More horsepower and torque

To add more horsepower and torque, go to “Customize”, then tune a car up to level 3 parts. Then, go to “Performance Tune/Dyno”. Choose for example, “Drag”, then go to “Tune Settings”. Go to “ECU” and set it so that from 5 rpm to 9 rpm or whatever is the most the maximum amount of torque you can add. Do the same for “Turbo”. Then. go to “Nitrous” and set the duration to 4 seconds. This will add both torque and horsepower to your ride.

Carbon fiber the entire car

Carbon your body kit, then put a wide body kit on it. The entire wide body will be carbon fiber. This will also give you a wider wheel base and should result in a lighter car.

Recommended cars

One of the best cars in the game is the Toyota Corolla. Once you obtain all level three performance upgrades, you can go online and sup it up. Add whatever desired, including all level three upgrades then go to tuning and set it to drag so that it can take off the line quicker. Then, lower the suspension to the lowest setting. You should now have a car that can beat Celicas and Skylines, and will take off the line faster.

After unlocking all level three performance parts, get a Nissan 240SX and put all of the performance parts on it. If you go online with this car (with performance parts on the car) and get mostly perfect shifts during a drag, you should be able to beat all other car (excluding other 240SX’s). If you want to go even faster, you will have to edit the settings of your car on the dyno run.

To get a fast Nissan Skyline that goes up to 227 to -228 on the airport freeway drag race, install all performance parts except for the six speed transmission. If you install the six speed transmission, you will get better acceleration but less top speed.

Jump off a car

To jump off a car’s hood, you must first jump off an uphill road the other way that the car is traveling. Use your NOS, get some air, and when the car approaches, get on its hood, off its windshield, then into the air.

1988 Nissan Skyline GTR34

Select Underground mode and complete at least the first 80 missions. A recommended car to use is the Acura RSX. You will then challenge Samantha. Defeat her on the medium difficulty setting and win the next drag race to unlock the 1998 Nissan Skyline GTR34.

Eddie’s Nissan Skyline

Keep winning style points to unlock Eddie’s car in the end. Note: It is faster to win them in drift. When your style meter maxes out, a message stating that you have won Eddie’s Nissan Skyline will appear.

Kurt’s Killer Ride

Use a Stock Mazda RX-7 and keep trying until you win.

Samantha’s car

Keep getting style points until you get all the vinyls, then fill up the next meter.

Easy wins

If you are having trouble winning circuit, sprint, or lap knockout races, take off all of your engine performance mods. Note: This works for every car, is most useful for the Nissan Skyline. You do not need to take off the handling mods.

Easier drag wins

While drag racing, once you get into fourth gear use your nitrous. Your meter will shoot up into the red zone. Then, switch gears and get a perfect shift. You will get more speed when you do this. You can do this as long as you have nitrous. Additionally, keep tapping the nitrous button at start of the race.

Easy money

In Underground mode, take a VW Golf and upgrade it performance-wise as much as possible. Trade it in for a Nissan Skyline (or the best car unlocked so far), then downgrade the new car to stock. Trade it in for a Golf and you should make a profit (about $6,000 each time). You can use the money to buy more upgrade for regular mode if you want to play with the parts or are stuck in Underground mode.

Easy drift points

Simply stay behind a car and watch the points rack up. Also, turn off the stability control by going into options and selecting “Car”. This will make the car drift easier. Additionally, as you progress through the levels, the score required to win the drift competitions get higher, especially when you have upgraded your car’s handling. Before you enter the drift competitions, go into “Customize Car” and “Setup”. For example, go to the engine upgrade section and refit stock tires to your chosen wheels. This will make drifting much easier. As you approach a bend with a bit of speed, back off the throttle, turn into it, and return to full throttle. With practice you can earn 50,000 style points on the figure of eight style track. Note: Do not forget to refit the better tires before entering a street race.

Easy style points

After you unlock the oval drift track, go into “Quick Race” and choose that track. Then, race around it using the handbrake to powerslide into the corners. Depending on how good you are, you will unlock rewards every time you fill your meter, which does not take too long.

Go to quick race mode and choose any circuit. Set it to five laps with maximum cars on. Then, just get near misses in a row to get a large amount of points. Once your reputation goes up you can make 20,000 points in one go around.

Press Nitrous at the start of a race to purge your nitrous for 150 style points.

Unlock the Toyota Celica in split screen/quick race mode and successfully complete the first tournament in Underground mode. Go to “Customize Ride” at the main menu and select the Toyota Celica. Select the “Performance” option and equip your new engine, tires and drivetrain. It does not matter what brand package you choose for them. Return to the menu where you choose from “Visual”, “Performance”, etc. Choose “Visual”, then equip your vehicle with parts from all of these options (though putting decals, painting, and placing vinyl on the vehicle is not necessary). Do not use any default parts. If your vehicle does not have a two star reputation rating or more, then you may have forgotten an option. Note: In the body section, the last option may be locked; it is not necessary for this trick. Return to the main menu and select “Quick Race”, then “Drift Race”. Select your Celica. Select the square track (should already be highlighted), and set the difficulty to medium and lap number to 10. You should be able to easily get “Great Drifts”, and if you are good enough, you can get “Superb Drift” and “Colossal Drift” ratings occasionally. You will get a lot of style points for doing these drifts. This is an easy way to get style points early in the game. Also try to do drifts around corners in the bonus zone areas rather then doing drifts throughout the track.

Go to quick race, then select “Drift” and use the little square track. Keep doing this to win vinyls, cars like Eddie’s Skyline, the Mystikal car, and more.

Once you have unlocked the orange Acura Type R in Underground mode, use it in regular quick race and win. Doing this will multiply your style points by five because this Acura has five reputation stars. Your style points gauge will fill up quicker, allowing you to unlock other things faster.

Use rims that normally will not fit

Certain cars can only fit so big of a rim. For example, the Miata can only fit 17s, but if you get a car like the Skyline put 20s on it and trade it in for the Miata. The Miata will now have the 20s that the Skyline had in it. Do not try to install any other rims on your new car because the rims will go back to the maximum sized allowed.

Purge nitrous

To purge your nitrous and appear to shoot out smoke, either put your car in neutral, or at the beginning of the race press Nitrous.

Shortcuts

Look for alternate routes on your in-game map while driving. These can get you ahead of an opponent easily or shave off seconds on your timer. They will look like another road on the map, but sometimes are narrower. Most of the time these shortcuts will be hard to see or take, and can be extremely risky. Also, at the beginning of the races that take place in front of the prison Samantha told you to race to for a reward, when the race starts, crash in the gate of the prison. It is an Underground shortcut. Note: This only works after the race in which Samantha tells you to race to the prison in time for a reward.

See where you are landing in slow-motion

Pause the game while you are in the air and the game is in slow motion. Resume the game and you can see where you are landing.
