Easy Madden Tokens

Use the following trick to get easy Madden Tokens in Two Minute Drill mode. Go to the roster of the team you are going to use and raise their stats so that their entire offensive line, fullback, and halfback are very good. Then, decrease the speed and awareness for the defensive players on the team you are going to play against. Next, go to Two Minute Drill mode and set the difficulty to All-Madden. If you plan to run against the defense, try a HB Toss to run on the outside. If you pass, throw Hail Marys the entire time. Your receivers that are good should beat the defensive backs, especially if you make them very tall and skinny.

Set the game difficulty to “All-Madden”. Then, go into the AI settings and set all of the human stats (QB Accuracy, O-line, Pass Blocking, etc.) to the maximum. Next, set all the CPU stats to the lowest. Set the quarters to five minutes and choose a team with a good running back, such as Denver, Seattle, or Washington. It will still be difficult to pass even with the CPU stats are as low as they are. You should be able to get well over 500 rushing yards and 700 Madden Tokens per game.

Enable any one of the codes for a card several times. Then, go to the card screen and sell the cards you just obtained. You will get 25 Madden Tokens for a card.

Better lead blocking

The trick to effective blocking is learning when to use the different blocks. Impact Blocks are more effective if you have a size advantage against the player you are blocking, while Cut Blocks are more effective if the defender is bigger than you. Turn Blocking works best for offensive linemen when they are trying to create an interior hole for the running back. If you get beat and you must resort to dirty tactics, try Holding.

Better running

When running the ball, the Highlight Stick is the best way to beat a defender in the open field. Press Up on the Highlight Stick to cause the ball carrier to play to their strengths and attempt to either power through or quickly shake past the defender. Press Left, Right, or Down on the Highlight Stick to make the ball carrier do a quick juke move in the specified direction. These moves are great for keeping your opponent guessing.

Cut Moves are a quick way to change the direction of the ball carrier without having to lose too much speed. If you are running in a certain direction and the defense is closing in, cutting in a different direction can be a good way to get past the defenders. These moves are best done by quicker running backs with high agility ratings.

When the running back has the ball in the backfield, you can use the Cut Moves to get through the holes in the offensive line. These moves are called Behind the Line Jukes, and they can only be performed when the ball carrier is approaching the offensive line. These moves allow the ball carrier to turn his hips and squeeze through small holes in the offensive line that normally he would not be able to get through.

Avoiding injuries

When you think one of your players may be injured on offense, hurry the play up and they will usually get back up.

Recommended defense

If you choose a 4-3 or 3-4 defense against any team, select a play in which you blitz all your linebackers and have your defensive backs cover the receivers. This works a lot of the time. You will usually average at least five sacks per game.

Try blitzing on first and second downs but not on the third down. Your opponent may be used to rushing his throws and throw the ball right into your coverage.

Get any player in Franchise mode

Use the following trick to obtain almost any player desired. Go to the desired player in the “View Roster” menu. Make sure there are more than enough players in the position he is in. Go to “Edit Player” then “Information”. Change his position to something that would make him overall bad. For example, make Ladanian Tomlinson a linebacker. Go to “Trade Player” and trade someone with a higher rating than him for that player. Once you get the player on your team, change them back to their original position.

In order for this trick to work you must turn off the trade deadline at the beginning of the season. Before you play your last game of the regular season in week 17, look at the standings (records) of the other teams. Find the team with the worst record. The team with the worst losing record has the first pick in the upcoming draft. Go to the trade player screen and propose a trade for your first round pick for their first round pick. The CPU should always accepts the trade. You can do this for your other picks as well. When you reach the NFL draft in the upcoming off season, you will have the first pick even if you won the Super Bowl in the prior season.

Fantasy draft

Do not draft a running back because Reggie Bush will not be selected until the ninth round. You can choose him late and he will be very good. If you do the highlight stick, he is unbeatable. As for your first draft pick, pick a quarterback. Make sure he is ranked at least 94 overall. Even a perfectly created quarterback will not get you Brady Palmer or Peyton Manning.

In the first round if you cannot get your desired QB or there is no one better than a 90 overall, take Champ Bailey. In the second round, take Steve Smith or any of the top WR desired. In the third round, take Polamalu or Steve Hutchinson. In the fourth round, take a MLB, preferably Jonathan Vilma because he is young, very good, and usually ends up an elite LB after a short time. In the eighth round, draft Reggie Bush. He is very fast, young, and will improve a lot in short time. Also try to get Manny Lawson (change to DE), Dbrickahshaw Ferguson (OT), Michael Huff (FS), Tye Hill (CB), and Lecharles Bentley (Center). This results in a fairly balanced team.

When you play Franchise mode, in the off-season usually the CPU releases one amazing player and a group of good players. For example, after your first year usually they will release Terrell Owens (97), Ed Reed (99), or Justin Griffith (97). Instead of going for other good players, offer the “superstar” released in that off-season a lot of money on the first day, then try to get some good players. Usually if you offered the “superstar” enough on the first day, he will sign with you immediately. You can then focus on good players. Also, when you are re-signing players or getting them in free agency and you want to save salary, offer them all seven years and your salary will go up.

Use Performance Institute more than once per week in Superstar mode

To use the Performance Institute more than once in one week (assuming if your agent lets you use it), first go to your schedule and simulate up to the day that you have your game. Then, go to the Performance Institute and do your normal drill. Go to your schedule and start your game; however, when you get to the kickoff, quit and go back to the Performance Institute. You should be able to attend once more (before the game).

Easy kicker and punter stats in Superstar mode

Use the following trick to get more field goals and punts. If you are a punter, put him as a QB, then set Punt on your audibles. If you are a kicker, put him as a QB, then set Field Goal on your audible. Call the audible as soon as the offensive line is formed. You can now get more field goals from your opposition’s 42 yard line forward. If the ball is spotted on the 50 yard line, you will shoot from about 15 to 18 yards further back than what is already an NFL record.

Easy kicker and punter Influence points in Superstar mode

Do the following to get Influence points for touchbacks from kickoffs and punts for a Superstar punter and kicker, and to make sure that your touchbacks will be credited to your Hall Of Fame resume as well as your stats line. Do not just kick the ball out of the endzone so that the returner cannot catch it. Make sure the returner catches the ball and kneels down. Also, even when you can back up a promise and win the game, never arrange media with the agent if you want to maintain a positive ego and avoid becoming a “lone wolf”. However, being a “lone wolf” is useful for transforming a pocket QB to a makeshift scrambling QB.

Choosing correct parents in Superstar mode

When starting Hall Of Fame mode, certain parents will give you large boosts in key stats. If you want a receiver that is very fast, choose a Hall of Fame WR father with the “He was the Randy Moss of his time” note. Your player should have 95 or higher speed. If you want a fast quarterback, look for a Pro Bowl or Hall of Fame QB father with the “He was the Michael Vick of his time” note. Your player will be very fast and have good throwing power. Note: If you choose a father with the “He was his era’s Tom Brady” note, he will be very slow (55 or less speed) and not be able to outrun anyone.

If you want to get a fast running back, look for a father who is a U.S.A. sprinter. It might cost you in other areas, but you will get 94 rated speed. Do not change any body features even though you are short.

Better agent in Superstar mode

Answer the interview questions as a team player. Then when you hire an agent, more of them will want to sign with you.

Add stats to Bio

Every time you simulate a season, if your team makes the playoffs it raises the stats on your EA Bio. You only have to save the Bio, and not the season.

Easy interceptions

While in defense, choose the play Nickel-Normal, go to cover 2. Now that you chose the play move your line in, your LB to the left, and your coverage in. Note: This only work about 85% of the time in rookie mode, sometimes in pro, if you are lucky on all-pro, and almost never in all-Madden settings.

Easy sacks

If you have Bill Callahan’s defensive playbook, go to Nickle defense and scroll down until you find Middle Blitz. Select that play then shift both your line and your LBs inside. You should get a sack about 85% of the time. Also on defense, get your right sided DT to the gap between the center and the guard. Hold Analog-stick Down and when the ball is snapped, your man should go through the line for a sack. This works about 50% of the time.

Easy first down or more

When you create a playbook, make a formation with the quarterback one step back from the center, and the halfback in the same location as the quarterback, only behind the left tackle. Make a custom route for him. Have him run straight towards the QB, then streak as soon as he reaches the outside of the offensive line. Have the fullback out as a receiver going for a 25 yard post. Have the left side receiver go for a 25 yard streak, and make a custom for the right receiver (next to the fullback). Have him go straight for 5 yards, have a two second delay, then post left. About the time he starts his post, the fullback should be starting his, and the defense re-adjusts to cover both men, leaving just enough time to get the ball to your open halfback. This works about 90 percent of the time. You must be quick to avoid getting sacked.

Easy punt return touchdowns

Chose “Block Punt” then when they come out, audible to a middle punt return. This will work about 85% of the time.

Easy blocked punts

Chose “Punt Return Middle”, then “Audible” to block a punt about 95% of the time. Also, take your RE and press Left(4). Rush the punter and you should slip past the line.

Easy points and tokens on Two Minute Drill

To get easy points on two minute drill, go for running plays. Make sure you score a touchdown or you will not get enough points. By the end of the drill, you will be given bonus points and get at least 355 tokens for one drill. Note: Go for four drills to get a lot of tokens, but make sure you play against a weak defense like the Claymores.

Easy tokens

Go to “Rosters” and select the Green Bay Packers’ Wide Receivers. Make Donald Driver 6′8” or taller in his information. Next, get out and go play the two minute drill with the Packers as your team and the Amsterdam Admirals as the defense (European Team). Then, go to Shotgun formation and press Left until you get to Shotgun 4WR and find Hail Mary. Keep throwing touchdowns to Donald Driver. Just throw bombs; because of his height he should easily catch it. After your done with the two minute drill, go to your Madden Cards and save your profile. Next, buy a pack of cards. Usually when you have about 250 cards out of 285 cards, you will get a lot of repeats. You may have 400 points and get nothing. This is why you should save the game before you buy the cards, so that you get a second chance at getting a card that you do not already have and do not waste your points on cards you already have.

Extra money

Play in owner mode and if you have the Super Bowl in the previous year, next year take all the tickets, concessions, and merchandise up as far as they can. You will get about $20 million a game.

Get under the salary cap

Go to “Rosters”, then go down to “Resign Players”. Sign your players to seven year contracts. This will give more money most of the time. This is a good way to get more money before the off season to get those highly paid players.

Determine if defense is playing man to man coverage

Send a player in motion. If a defensive player follows him, then the corners are playing man to man coverage. Remember that the safeties may have zone and a LB could cover a WR (should be an easy completion).

Quick blitz

If you want to blitz fast, go to the setting menu, then choose “Penalty”, and turn off “Offsides”. You can now run before the play.

Players become coaches

Great players that retire in franchise mode can return to be coaches. Wait a couple of years after your favorite star retires, and he will show up in the coaching free agent list to be signed as an assistant or head coach.

Get any player

Use the following trick to get any player in a trade without the other team rejecting. In the franchise mode, create a player as a quarterback and move his attributes until you get to 99 points. Then, put his injury and stamina down to 0. This will not change the attribute point level. Sign him as a free agent then trade him to any team for anybody you want. When you play the team he is playing for, after a couple of plays he will either become injured or will be taken out of the game for his weak stamina. No team will refuse your trade and you will have any player you want on your team.

Cheap players that are good

To make a receiver go to create player and create the player as a quarterback. Give the player very low passing abilities (zero) and very high catching and ball handling levels. The player will cost very little because his quarterback skills are bad. You will have to sign him as a quarterback but use him as a wide receiver. His salary will never go up because he will not play as a quarterback. You can also change his number and attributes in the edit player screen. You can also make a dirt cheap fullback by eliminating his receiving skills.

Cheaper player

When you have an expensive player, you can release him and sign him for less money.

Easier gold in mini-camp mode

Create a player and trade him to the team that you are doing the drill with. Make sure that the created player is playing the position of the person that you are trying to complete the drill with. For example, Ronde Barber is the corner back in the Defensive Swat Pass drill. If you create a corner back and make his attributes all 99, put him on the Buccaneers and make him the starting or number one cornerback. Then, he will do the drill. You may do this with any person on any drill. You may also make the people who you are going against in the drill “sorrier”. If you know their names, go to their attributes and turn them all the way down.

Over the shoulder catch

When throwing the ball to a receiver that is running a fly route, lob the pass (tap the button) instead of throwing a bullet (holding the button). The receiver should catch the ball over his shoulder.

Better quarterback accuracy

Note what kind of quarterback you are passing with. If you have someone such as Kurt Warner, you may have better accuracy if you set your feet, then throw the ball. If you have someone like Donovan McNabb, you might have better luck throwing on the run.

Better draft pick

If you have a first place team and you know its going to be very late in the draft, trade with a last place team. Sometimes you can even get a first and second round pick for just your first. This is a very good way to get young players on your already good team.

Lower team’s overall salary

One way to lower a team’s overall salary is to cut certain players’ salaries. You can do this with players that have low attributes but high salaries. To do this, go to “Rosters” and select “Edit player”. Select a player on the team that has a low overall rating (anything under the low 80s) and has a high salary. When you choose to edit the players “Attributes”, you will notice that his salary decreases. Do not change anything in his attributes and exit out. You have now made your first budget cut of the season.

Always have first pick in draft

Start a franchise with the trade deadline off. Sim or play the season to Week 17. Find out which team has the worst record. Trade your first draft pick for their first pick, and they will always accept. Note: You can also do this with second through seventh draft picks.

Easy touchdowns

Off the line, without speed burst, instantly juke right then left. The CB will be fooled. Speed burst, run a 45 degree angle to the center of the field, and call for the ball. The CB should either be far away or behind you, and you will usually catch it for an easy touchdown. The following also works for large gains. Instead of right then left, do left then right, and catch the ball running up the line.

Fantasy Challenge mode tip

Make sure you have all the desired players from your current league on your team before the last game (championship). You will not be able to get those players if you win the championship because you will move on to the next league.

Recommended players in Franchise mode

Go the Free Agent screen in Franchise mode. Sign a free agent named Jordan Beck. He is a middle linebacker that is 71 overall. Change his position to defensive end, and he will be 90 overall. The same thing works for many other linebackers when changed to defensive end. You can also change Ladainian Tomlinson’s position to linebacker. Do this, then trade for him. He will have an F trade rating, and his team will accept almost any player in a trade. Once signed, release him, then resign him to save cap room. Then, change his position back to running back. He will be 99 again. This can be done for lots of other players.

Avoiding drills in Superstar mode

If you choose to create a Superstar, you will have to do drills after you create him. To avoid having to do drills, choose “Create A Player” (above “Create A Team” in the Features menu). Set the year he is born to1987. It should say at the bottom of the info menu that he is zero years pro. Put him on the team you want to use. After you customize his appearance, make his stats 99 overall. Then, go into the depth charts in the Features menu, and put him at the top of the depth chart at his position. Go back into Superstar mode, choose to play as a rookie, and your created superstar should be there with all the other rookies from the 2008 draft. Choose the superstar you created. You should now not have to do any drills and will go into the pre-season with the team you put your rookie on. If you put him at the top of the depth chart at his position before you went into Superstar mode, he should be a starter.

Getting drafted by desired team in Superstar mode

When you make your profile at the main menu, select the team that you want to be drafted by as your favorite team. When you start your Superstar Hall of Fame career and get to the draft, a message will appear stating “Would you be interested in being drafted by your favorite team?”. Select “Yes”, and you will be on that team.

Create low paid all-star QB

Create a punter or kicker with all his attributes at maximum, including passing. You can sign him for a low salary because he is a kicker. Then, set him as the starting quarterback on the depth charts when the season begins. You will now have the best kicker/punter and QB in the league. You may also maximize all passing attributes and move the kicking attributes down to sign him at an even lower price; however this is only recommended if you rarely kick.

Onside kicks

This trick works with any kicker. When you are kicking off, select “Onside Kick” when the return team is switching formation. When they are set, take the power bar all the way to the top, but do not select it. Bring it all the way down so that the power is at 31. Next, make your accuracy 97 to 99. The ball will hit the ground and go up straight up in the air every time. Have one of your players that is close to the ball sprint toward it. This makes all your players follow, and you will usually get it.

Easy sacks

Be a defensive lineman and back up a few feet. When the play starts, immediately run forward and Hitsick an offensive lineman. He will fall down and your player will still be running fast towards the quarterback to sack him.

Easy touchdowns

Take the best wide receiver on your team and put him in the tightend position. Audible his route so he does a fly (straight) route. Since he has such a low overall rating, they may just have a line backer on him or he might not even be covered. Throw it to him and he will easily be able to burn the defense.

Easy training camp points

While on offense, choose an offense with three receivers; Trip Bunch in Single Back formation works very well. Put the defense on the goal line with Zone CB cover. By doing this, no one will rush your QB, and once your receiver gets past the zone, they will be left unguarded in the endzone for an easy 48 points per play almost all of the time. This should work with most short zone coverages and does not take many attempts to learn which receiver to pick, mostly anyone running a long slant.

Punting

Since the punt blockers do not block very much, it is better if you select the “Punt Block” formation instead of any other punt return formation. With the “Punt Block” formation, the punting team will not be spread out, therefore allowing your blockers to somewhat block for you; which in turn will give you more time to field the ball and have a little space to start something big.

Injure player easily

If there is a player you want to injure, go to “Features”, then to “Rosters”. Select his team, then choose the player and go to “Attributes”. Reduce his injury to “0″. This may take awhile; you may also want to set the game to four or five minute quarters.

Touchdown celebrations

Play as the Eagles against the Ravens and score a touchdown with T.O. by diving in the endzone. He will do a Ray Lewis dance in the endzone as a celebration. If you are playing as either Donovan McNabb or Daunte Culpepper and you get tackled going into the endzone and scoring a touchdown, they will do their trademark dances. Daunte will “get his roll on” and Donovan will do the moonwalk.

Player nickname

With a player named Troy Siegel (a drafted rookie three seasons into a franchise), Al Micheals will call him “Simian” in his commentary when he makes a play.

Wrong Antonio Gates stats

Look in the Antonio Gates Player Information screen. It will show his receptions, rec yards, etc; however they show that Gates had 0 TDs. Gates set the record for TDs by a Tight End with 13.

Wrong Deuce McCallister stats

While your game is loading you will see a player and their 2004 stats while you are waiting. When you see Deuce McCallister, it shows that he had 1600+ yards rushing; however Deuce only had 1074 yards rushing in 2004.

Movie line mistake

In NFL Superstar mode, when you get the movie deal for Muligan O’malley, in the last scene your line says something then “Mt. Dortiz”; however the correct answer is “Ms. Dortiz”. When you get the movie deal for The Prosciutto, in the second scene your line says “Is that a joke? You didn’t pay for those meatballs”. The actual line is “You didn’t pay for these meatballs”.

IQ test misspelling in NFL Superstar mode

One of the questions is “When watching a movie, do you prefer the original, the remake or the sequal?”, with the word “sequel” misspelled.

Easy first round first pick in Franchise mode

Do the following to get a good rookie draft pick. Go to create a player and set his age at 45. Set his years as a pro at 27. He does not need a name, leave it as “New Player”. Skip over “Build”, “Appearance”, and “Equipment”. Go to attributes and set “Awareness” to 99. Then, go to “Throw Power” and “Throw Accuracy” and make them both 99. Exit and save your created player. Then, sign the player. Trade him to the team with the first round first pick. You should now have the first pick in the draft almost all the time. Additionally, use the following trick to get the first pick in every round in the draft. Turn off the trade deadlines. Then, trade all of your picks with the team with the worst record before the wild card week. You will get all of their picks, and if you have a good season, you can even trade one of your picks for two of theirs.

Sign created player with high attributes for three years in Franchise mode

When creating a player, make him a free agent. Then, get his attributes up to 75 and sign the player for any team desired. Go to that team’s rosters and edit his attributes; you can make it as high as 99. When you go to Franchise mode with the team the player you created is on he will have a contract for three years.

Getting good players in Franchise mode

Use the following trick to get a great team without a high salary cost. Start a new franchise and pick a team. Do a fantasy draft and pick all the worst players. Then, release all of them and make your team from scratch, through Create-A-Player mode. Once done with the height, faces, etc., do not change the attributes. Save the player and sign him. Once you sign him, go back to Create-A-Player and select his name and change all his attributes to the maximum. Repeat this until you have a team with full attributes. The reason that all the worst players were selected is to keep you from having a high cap penalty during the next season. Note: This will take a few hours to complete.

Agents in NFL Superstar mode

The agents you get are based on the talent of your player. For example, if your player’s overall rating is at least 84, you will get Dan Baker as an agent. When importing players, that RBs get better overall ratings, no matter how many Heismans or any other awards they have won. Your superstar’s overall rating is based on your Heisman over ratings, that is then randomly altered slightly each time you import. When importing from NCAA Football 06, player’s stats are randomly done. You can retry for better stats. The interview after the mentor meeting determines some stat boosts to important stats for your player’s position.

Choosing an agent in NFL Superstar mode

If you have a player whose personality rating is “Disruption”, select Jason Morales as your agent. He can usually get you a movie deal before the first season starts. Stay away from Aubrey DeLong, as he is not a good negotiator and it takes forever to get an endorsement deal.

Interview questions in NFL Superstar mode

Make sure to choose your answers to interview questions wisely. The answers will affect your personality type and most endorsement companies want a player with a more conservative personality type, such as “Team Leader” or “Professional”. Also, when starting NFL Superstar mode try to select a father that is a Hall Of Famer and a mother or father that has a high IQ.

When choosing your parents, look for Olympic sprinters or a Hall Of Fame DB dad (it will say that he ran a 4.2 for scouts). Do not worry about being too weak for the position, just make your player very muscular. Your DE or LB player will be very quick and you will destroy offenses.

Better IQ in NFL Superstar mode

If your IQ test results are low, save the game before the IQ day and try it over again until your percentage is high.

New apartment in NFL Superstar mode

If you win a Super Bowl and are inducted to the Pro Bowl, you will move into a new apartment.

Mansion in NFL Superstar mode

Win the Super Bowl twice and get into the Pro Bowl each time to get a mansion.

More control in draft in NFL Superstar mode

Save the game before the draft. If you do not like the team that drafted you, reload your saved game and try it over again until you are drafted by a desired team.

Better player in NFL Superstar mode

Make sure your father is a Hall of Fame RB. When you get drafted, try to get on a team like the 49ers or any team with a bad RB. With those teams you will excel. Also if you get in the playoffs, play the games with two minute quarters. They are quick and easy to win.

Switching teams in NFL Superstar mode

Once you become a key player to a team, you can upgrade to a much better agent. Then, after two seasons you can resign with almost any team you desire.

Getting traded in NFL Superstar mode

After creating a player and signing an agent, go to the draft and start the draft. You will probably be selected in the third round unless you imported your player from NCAA Football 06 or NFL Street 2. If you do not like the team you got drafted by, then simulate the preseason. When the preseason is over go to your agent’s office on the city map. Scroll down to “I demand a trade” and you will be traded to another team. If you dislike that team as well, then demand another trade. Be careful, as you can only demand two trades until the next season.

Performance Institute in NFL Superstar mode

The Performance Institute is only a temporary thing. However, the following trick can help you player achieve higher levels without sacrifice over the course of his career. First, during Spring Training wait until Sunday to use the Performance Institute. On Sunday, do the Performance Institute drills. Once the season starts you will stay at the increase until Sunday, the day of the game. Before you start the game, do the Performance Institute drill as you did in Spring Training. Play the game on Sunday. Once the game is over go to Monday; do not advance to the next day. Stay on Monday. Since there is a game to be played which will not be your team, go to the Performance Institute. The drill should be available for you to do, based on your position. Note: These points (from Monday) are permanent, as long as you continue to do the same process week in and week out. The only catch is you must use them one attribute at a time until it is maxed and it must be the same drill you did on Sunday. For example, if you increased Speed on Sunday, you must dump all the points into Speed on Monday. If you dumped all the points on Sunday into Agility, then on Monday’s drill you have to dump them all into Agility, etc. Over the course of the season you will see your stats lose the points from Sunday,as those are the temporary points. However, they still show the other points from Monday. These are cumulative points, but you must space it out to get exactly 99. If you get to 93 and the max points you can earn in the drill is 7, you will not end on 99. It would be 100, but since you cannot use all the points, those 7 from Monday will be lost. Earlier in the season you will have to place a set of points to help making the last attribute addition become 99. This rule applies for each category you want to increase.

Go to Performance Institute more than once per week in NFL Superstar mode

To go to the Performance Institute more than once a week, do not go until the day of the game. Then, go and do whatever drill desired. Once you are done, leave the map and go to your schedule. Leave there, then go back to the map and you can do it again. This will allow your player to be very well prepared for the next game.

Quick overall rating in NFL Superstar mode

To build your superstar’s overall rating quickly, go to your schedule and simulate or play to a day where you have a game to play. Do not play the game immediately. Instead, go to the Performance Institute and do what is needed to get some points. Add them to your player and leave. If you have auto-save enabled, the game will save your stats for you. If you do not, then save it. Once you are done at the Performance Institute, look at your schedule, then leave. Go back to the Performance Institute to do the drills again with your previous points still there. You can keep training as long as you do it on a day that you have a game to play.

Easy practice points in NFL Superstar mode

Create a QB, then go into a Practice mode and select a HB Swing. Have the defense do FG Block. When you say hike, lob the pass to your RB and he will score a touchdown for 48 points every time. Additionally, pick a formation with at least three receivers. Then, select a play that has an inside receiver doing a slant or short post. Pick the defense 4-3 Engage Eight or 3-4 renegade. Throw the ball to your slanting receiver every time, as they will be wide open and get tackled for 17 to 48 points per play.

Choose a deep pass play on offense. Choose I Field Goal Block on the defense. You should be able to get a touchdown most of the time.

Go to the options screen, select “A.I.”, then move all of the human settings up and the CPU down. It should now be easier to pickoff, sack, and throw Hail Marys to your receiver without problems. If you want more points, set the time to five minutes.

To get easy training camp and practice points for offensive players only, select the Hail Mary for an offense play. For defense, select Goaline and the Blitz C. Call a Hot Route to have your left outside receiver run a 5 and out towards the sideline. The left slot receiver will be open every time to get a touchdown. When completed successfully you will get an “A” for a practice grade and boost your player’s stats.

Use the following trick for easy practice points with a defensive superstar. Select a field goal or punt block play on defense and I-Formation Fake FB Toss on offense. Not only is this an easy play to stop, but if you are quick enough you can knockdown the toss from the QB to the HB causing a fumble. Returning a fumble for a TD earns over 80 points. Select any defensive play and select Special Teams QB Kneel on offense. The QB will kneel and earn you 15 points on every play. You can setup the practice and just let it run. You will have an “A” rated practice and a huge boost whenever you decide to stop it, and none of your players will get hurt.

Increased stats in NFL Superstar mode

To max out your stats, during the week of a game when you are on a game day, select the game. You will get the option to play or sim the game. Go back, then go to the Performance Institute. Go to whatever drill you can. Keep repeating this process until you have the desired attributes. Note: This will decrease your stamina. The best option is to turn game fatigue off. Note: Stats do not completely carry over to the next week, and if you simulate your games your performance will be affected by the weakened stamina. Turning off game fatigue only works if you actually play the games.

You can increase your Overall, Awareness, and Stamina in Practice mode by having your superstar get practice points by getting a big gain on offense or creating a big loss on defense. You also can get your stats up by getting an agent that has access to the Performance Institute and get a medal on it:

Bronze: 3 points
Silver: 4 points
Gold: 5 points

Note: Your stats are not permanent. They will be reset after each game. You must do the practices and Performance Institute again to get them back up.

Easy tackles

You can get numerous easy tackles with your MLB by using him during your kickoffs. Go to coaching strategies and find “Kickoff”. Assign the third player from the left to be your MLB. Assign the first two players on the left as very slow CBs or FSs. When you kick off, kick the ball to the left side where your MLB is assigned. If you do not kick it too deeply, your MLB will be the first one downfield and will go unblocked into the return man. Note: If you have the roster space and some money, create a CB and FS and make all of their attributes zeros. You should have no trouble signing them to a contract. You can then use them on your kickoff squad and they will almost never make it downfield. With this trick, in addition to the tackles your MLB gets during the game, he will get one for every kickoff as well.

Easy pass

Go to the “I Formation” and select “Slants” as a route. The key receiver is “X”. Wait one or two seconds then throw to the key receiver, who will catch the ball almost every time.

Easy deep routes

You can make an adjustment to your route in create-a-playbook that can make throwing the deep route much easier and the game more fun. In create-a-playbook, if you have a normal streak, adjust the route so that it is going to the side of the receiver (if on the right side, adjust the route to the right; if on left, adjust the route to the left). It is like a fade, and make sure it is at the maximum vertical yardyage. In a game, it usually works best with a play action, but it also is effective in shotgun against a normal man on man with a safety over the top situation. You should wait about two to three seconds, then lob it. It works well when you have a top speed receiver such as Bethel Johnson or Dante Hall, or against a cornerback about 93-94 speed.

Easy yards

Select a team, then go to the options and choose NYG-Tom Coughlin’s playbook. Make sure your running back has at least 92 speed. Go the “I twins” and choose the “Off Tackle” play. It works all the time. Make sure there is no CB on the empty side and do not run it on third and long. If the hole is stuffed, always run directly at the tightend then spin and run toward and up the sideline. If done correctly, the only person that can get you is the safety. Also you should at least get a first down (depending on the level of play), if not a 20 or more yard gain. You also can run it to the side of twins; just make sure that the LBs and the line is shifted all the way to the right. If not, keep audibling the original play. It does not do anything for you, but gets the defense to start shifting around. Keep doing it until all of the LBs and the line shift all the way to the right. Additionally, for easy completions almost every time, use Lovie Smith’s playbook. In that playbook, go to “Shotgun” then the “Trips” formation. In the formation, use almost any play in it. You will get a 2 on 3 wide receiver mismatch. Be careful, as the CPU will learn how to move their players over there, and will eventually know your play if you run it too often.

Faster player improvement

Before playing under the All-Pro or All-Madden difficulty settings, play your franchise under the Rookie or Pro levels so you can increase stats for your players easily. This will give them more attribute upgrades throughout the season. The more yards your receivers or running backs get, the more points their ratings will increase.

More effective running game

First, make a tight end. His name, college, etc. is your choice. When you edit his appearance, make him 6′8″, and 275 to 300 lbs. Then, make him have a muscular bulid in his body and arms. If you set his attributes ti above average or better (overall between 84 to 99), when you run a play that involves running towards the side the tight end is set, he will open holes and lanes that will enable you to gain 6 to 7 yards a carry.

Shifty jukes when running the ball

To have a higher chance of breaking tackles when running, press the Juke buttons according to which side you want to run to.

Best play

The hook routes are the most successful plays to complete in the game.

Increased attendance in franchise mode

Before playing a home game, enter the “Owner’s” menu and set your “Advertising” as high as possible. After you play your game, return to the “Owner’s” menu and set “Advertising” to zero, then simulate the rest of the games for that week. You will not be charged for the advertising, but your attendance will be higher. Do this before every home game to keep your attendance high without paying extra.

Signing players to low salaries

This trick will allow you to sign any player, no matter how big their default salary is, to a three year low-salary contract. You must do this before starting a franchise. First, edit the player’s attributes from whatever they are currently down so that their overall rating is exactly 75. Depending on the position, you should be able to achieve this by simply lowering one or sometimes two of their attributes. Make sure to make a note what the original rating was so you can store the value later. Once all players you are editing are at an overall rating of 75, release the players to free agency. After releasing each player (you may have to sign some “no-name” players to your roster to maintain roster requirements, but you can release those temporary players later), back out of the roster management screen to the main menu. Choose the option to “Continue without saving” (this may not be necessary). Reenter the roster management screen and select “Free Agents.” Go to whichever team you want to sign the players to and start looking for your players. You should notice that their new requested salaries and contract lengths will be for three years at a very low salary (depending on the position). Once you have signed all of your players back (and released the temporary players), go back to editing the players and return them to the original ratings. Note: According to the manual, your players will become upset if they feel they are being underpaid for how good they are performing — you will more than likely have to re-sign some contracts throughout the year, but with the cap room you will save.

Note: This trick only works on contracts that have completely expired. During the off-season, instead of resigning your players, edit them. Change their position to something that will lower their overall ratings. For example, move a DT to a TE; or make your QB a WR. Then, resign the player. He will play poorly at his new position, making him extremely cheap. Not all player positions can be changed, but a lot of them can — especially the higher dollar positions. After you resign the player, move him back to his original position. His overall rating will return without any negative affects. For example, it is possible to resign LeRoy Glover to a six year deal worth $1.5 million with no signing bonus at the age of 32, with an overall rating of 97 by moving him to TE.

Getting good players

First, do a Fantasy Draft with any team other than the Falcons. Once you finish the training camp, preseason, and five weeks in the regular season, look at the standings in the NFC East. You should see that the Falcons are 1-4 or 0-5. Trade your first round pick for their first round pick. This usually works. If not, trade with the next worst team.

In order to get a team that will last three to four years of dominance, must start with a team with lots of long contracts in place (for example, the Lions). They have four or six, six and seven year contracts on the good rookies. Trade for other players with long contracts. The first person you need to trade is the tight end that makes $12 million a year. Kellen Winslow from the Browns makes a good replacement. Make sure to not build too good of a roster, as your players have personalities and will get upset if they do not start, get the ball, etc. However, a decent roll playing team with outstanding players at these positions will take it every time. QB, HB, WR, or a second WR will not hurt. With DE/DT OLB/MLB CB SS/FS, 80-85 on every other player is more than sufficient. Also, if you trade these players from the rosters before your franchise, you can then edit them to make them better. However, be careful not to go too high on all of them, as they will all want more money and cause major backroom problems.

Use the following trick to get high draft picks every year. Each year after pre-season, simulate or play the games up until week 5. Check the standings to learn who has the worst record so far. Then, initiate a trade with the worst team. Offer the worst team your first round pick for their first and third round picks. They will usually accept. If they do not, find another team that is bad and offer the same deal to them. Once they accept, you can then usually offer both of your third round picks to another bad team for their first round pick. Then after the season is over, you will generally have two first round picks very high in the first round. You will be without a third round pick, but it is well worth it for the two first round picks.

Use any roster. Take the thirrd string or very last player in your depth chart and edit the player. You can do anything you want with him and his salary will be the same, no matter how bad or good he is.

This trick allows you to make quite a bit of more salary cap room. You can easily get $8 to 10 million more. Before you advance to the Off-Season mode (any time during the season), go into “View Rosters”. Sort the players by the number of years left on their contracts so that ones with the fewest years remaining are shown on top of the list. For anyone that you want to keep, re-sign them to a seven year contract and adjust the salary and signing bonus to get the most cap room from that player. Continue with all remaining players that you want to keep. You will get more cap room from players with the fewest years remaining on their contract. It does not work as well with if there are five to six years left. If you have players that can resist injury really well, there is not much need for good backups. You can sign lower quality backups to help clear up some cap room.

Create a very good quarterback. Make his speed and catching stats low. Release one player and sign your created player. Trade your created player for whomever desired. Then, go back to the create a player. Select the person you just traded. Make him very fat and change his position to wide receiver. He will not catch a pass, and if he does he will not run very far. Try to make the created players signing bonus low so that it is not a waste of money.

If you find a great player as a free agent, you can sign him if you have a salary cap over $1 million. Just give the player seven years and your salary cap will get lower, but will not go under 0.

In franchise mode, create an offensive lineman that is 45 years old. Set his years in the league to 27. Put his stats all the way up, then sign him on free agency. Next, trade with any team and get any player or pick you desire. This works best with getting first round picks, but can also get a lot of good players. Because he is an offensive lineman, he will not have a huge impact on a team winning and will retire at the end of the season.

In franchise mode, go to “My Team”, then “Team Info”. Scroll over to “Team Morale”. Look under the other team’s morale for unhappy players. Those player will be easy to trade for.

Fantasy draft

The following players are selected in the rounds after their name. Therefore, you can draft them in the previous round if you have a good draft pick. For example, pick #6 to 10.

For example, if Brian Urlacher is drated in the second round, you must draft him in the first. If Dante Hall is drafted in the fifteenth round, you must draft him in the fourteenth round. Note: These players are always drafted in the round given; choose wisely.

Hint: Game Hints From EA

1. When a defense looks prepared for your current play, use a quick audible to regain the upper hand.
2. While playing through the Madden Test, be patient. Hurrying through the drills will cause your Madden IQ to suffer.
3. Use Formation Subs in certain situations to bring a new player into the game. That backup player just might have the skills needed for the current play.
4. Playing Superstar as a Tight End gives you the best of both worlds, allowing you to play as a Lineman and a Wide Receiver.
5. It’s a good idea to use your EA Rewinds like timeouts, saving them for crucial situations.
6. Enter into endzone hotspots to trigger special player celebrations.
7. Calling a short yard FB run play with a backup RB is a good way to increase the odds that yards will be gained.
8. Read the Madden Moment description carefully, sometimes a FG is good enough to complete the Moment.
9. Remember to utilize the Field Goal Block Return play whenever a long FG is attempted.
10. Importing your Fantasy Football Team from your Fantasy League gives you the chance to test your team’s mettle on the field.
11. Use the stiff arm special move to break more tackles with the ball carrier.
12. Using an All Madden or Fantasy Drafted created team will give you the advantage when playing in Franchise or against a friend.
13. When punting is not an option, use the QB Sneak play to push for those last couple of yards in short yardage situations.
14. When a play doesn’t go the way you planned, don’t hesitate. Use EA Rewind to try it over again.
15. Utilize the Player HUB to see what part of the game your friends are currently playing in.
16. Use the Player HUB to send game invites as well as Online league invites.
17. Talk is cheap. Create custom Online Leagues with your friends to see who is truly the best at Madden.
18. Use EA Sports World to help track your accomplishments in all game modes.
19. When playing multi-player games, make sure to use the Bluff Play selection to hide from your opponent which play you are about to run.
20. Create new offensive and defensive plays in NFL Head Coach 09 and import them into Madden. Your opponent won’t know what to expect!
21. Take advantage of the new tackle breaking system. Press a button or move the highlight stick while getting tackled to attempt to break out of it.
22. New to Madden? No problem. Use the Beginner Game Style for a simplified Madden experience.
23. Madden knows how good you are. When you finish a game, advance to the Virtual Trainer to improve your weaknesses.
24. Longing for the days of Maddens past? Play Madden 93 with the 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition.
25. Pause no more! Access Instant Replay, Challenge Plays, and view stats without ever leaving the playcall screen.

Unlockable: Hall of Fame Teams
In order to unlock the AFC/NFC Hall of Fame teams (like the Glaciers, Dummies, et cetera), you must complete the in-game Fantasy Challenge. To unlock these teams so you can play as them, you must beat them in Supreme League mode; otherwise, you will only get to play them, not as them.

Hint: Three Players On One Team
In order to get three controllers aligned to the same team, do the following.

With all three controllers on, choose the same side with controllers one and two. During gameplay, press start on controller one and enter the menu. Turn the second controller off. Then, with the first controller, head to settings and controller setup. Slide the third controller to the same side. Go back to the start menu, and just before resuming gameplay, turn controller two back on (there should be a rumble on the second controller). Changes will come into effect after the first play. Hint: Performance Institute Exploit
To increase your chosen character’s statistics faster, hence making him a superstar more rapidly, try the following exploit. On gameday (Sunday), enter the Performance Institute and complete the exercise. After exiting, head over to your team’s schedule and enter. Then, exit back out to the city map, and the Performance Institute exercise will appear again for you to use. You can do this over and over again if you want.

Hint: Draft Pick Franchise Building
Here’s a great technique if you’re looking to build a dynasty longterm over many seasons. It works best with “great” teams (like the Patriots, Colts and Chargers) and “good” teams (like the Jaguars, Broncos, and Cowboys). Theoretically, though, it can work with any team.

After finishing up your pre-season games, don’t advance to the regular season. Instead, head to the trading block. Offer up your first round pick and ask for a first, second and fourth round pick in return. If your team is decent enough you will receive offers from all of the bottom teams (like Buffalo, Houston, Detroit, or whoever happens to be bad that season).

So, with the bad team’s first, second and fourth picks (for instance), you can offer your own second, third and fourth picks. Ask for a first, third and fourth pick in return. You have to be flexible though, because you won’t always be able to get what you want in return.

If the above works, however, you’ll have two first round picks, a second round pick, a third round pick, and two fourth round picks (or something similar). This is absolutely amazing when you are building a franchise. Better yet, you can do this every year, as your franchise gets stronger and stronger with young, talented players

Hint: Better CBs and OLBs
Have you ever been frustrated at your corner backs dropping easy picks? or your outside line backers being a bit too slow to make the tackle? I know I was.

To make my team better, I went to Rosters and I edited the position some Wide Receivers to make them Corner Backs, and Safties, and I edited the position of some Safties to make them Outside Linebackers. By using this, your Corner Backs/Safties get many more interceptions, and your Outside Linebackers get more sacks, and tackles.

Hint: Keep Influence Points In SS Mode
When you finish a game in Superstar mode do not save or turn off the PlayStation2. Do all the practices and gameplans and start the next game. Do the coin toss and choose to receive or kick or direction depending on coin toss. When you get to the screen with the play the coach picked for the kickoff, pause game play. Save the game and then turn off the PlayStation2. When you turn the game on and load Superstar mode, you should have all of your influence points and role points from the previous game. For example, if you finished game 1 with 100 influence points, you will have 100 influence points at the start of game 2 to build on.

Hint: Spoil The Kick
This is something I accidentally discovered and it doesn’t look like it can be patched (not on the PS2 at least). By holding L2 and using the direction pad, you can control the direction you want the ball to bounce.

Say you don’t want the ball to bounce into the endzone for a touchback, you’d hold L2 and press UP on the directional pad. The ball will bounce and leave it in a bad field position for the receiving team.

Hint: Game Hints From EA

1. When a defense looks prepared for your current play, use a quick audible to regain the upper hand.
2. While playing through the Madden Test, be patient. Hurrying through the drills will cause your Madden IQ to suffer.
3. Use Formation Subs in certain situations to bring a new player into the game. That backup player just might have the skills needed for the current play.
4. Playing Superstar as a Tight End gives you the best of both worlds, allowing you to play as a Lineman and a Wide Receiver.
5. It’s a good idea to use your EA Rewinds like timeouts, saving them for crucial situations.
6. Enter into endzone hotspots to trigger special player celebrations.
7. Calling a short yard FB run play with a backup RB is a good way to increase the odds that yards will be gained.
8. Read the Madden Moment description carefully, sometimes a FG is good enough to complete the Moment.
9. Remember to utilize the Field Goal Block Return play whenever a long FG is attempted.
10. Importing your Fantasy Football Team from your Fantasy League gives you the chance to test your team’s mettle on the field.
11. Use the stiff arm special move to break more tackles with the ball carrier.
12. Using an All Madden or Fantasy Drafted created team will give you the advantage when playing in Franchise or against a friend.
13. When punting is not an option, use the QB Sneak play to push for those last couple of yards in short yardage situations.
14. When a play doesn’t go the way you planned, don’t hesitate. Use EA Rewind to try it over again.
15. Utilize the Player HUB to see what part of the game your friends are currently playing in.
16. Use the Player HUB to send game invites as well as Online league invites.
17. Talk is cheap. Create custom Online Leagues with your friends to see who is truly the best at Madden.
18. Use EA Sports World to help track your accomplishments in all game modes.
19. When playing multi-player games, make sure to use the Bluff Play selection to hide from your opponent which play you are about to run.
20. Create new offensive and defensive plays in NFL Head Coach 09 and import them into Madden. Your opponent won’t know what to expect!
21. Take advantage of the new tackle breaking system. Press a button or move the highlight stick while getting tackled to attempt to break out of it.
22. New to Madden? No problem. Use the Beginner Game Style for a simplified Madden experience.
23. Madden knows how good you are. When you finish a game, advance to the Virtual Trainer to improve your weaknesses.
